James Shultis is a poet & social activist, dividing his time between writing & his day job at Grand Street Community Arts, a non-profit community art space, where he serves as their Development & Volunteer Recruitment Coordinator. He has a deep taste for adventure, bike rides over bridges at midnight, old records & wildflowers on the side of the road.
After spending time on the west coast, he returned to New York City. During this time, he better acquainted himself with small press publishing, the joys of being an intern & working through endless slush piles, d.i.y. (do-it-yourself) chapbooks/zines, queer theory & urban gardening.
James recently completed his MFA in Creative Writing at Queens College (CUNY). He has previously served as the Editor in Chief & Poetry Editor for Ozone Park Journal, a new journal of creative writing sponsored by Queens College.
His work has appeared in print and online journals, the newest among them: Women Studies Quarterly (through Feminist Press), Farmhouse Magazine & Next Door Magazine.
